Stunning numbers for the digital Shroud made in Stenico

A great success in terms of audience and international engagement for “Avvolti,” the initiative organized on the occasion of the liturgical feast of the Shroud and the Jubilee of Hope. In just eight days – from April 28 to May 5 – the tent set up in Piazza Castello in Turin recorded 32,800 entries between the Digital Shroud Room and the exhibition “Faces in the Face,” along with nearly two million views on social media channels.
Stenico, May 7, 2025 – The event “Avvolti” (https://www.avvolti.org/it), promoted by the Turin Church with the support of the Piedmont Region, the City of Turin, the Turin Chamber of Commerce, and the Carlo Acutis Foundation, offered an innovative and engaging experience.
The technological heart of the initiative was the interactive table with the digital Shroud, an immersive, life-sized installation of the Cloth. Designed to provide an in-depth, multimedia exploration of the Holy Saturday icon — as Pope Benedict XVI described it — the table was developed and produced by OMB, a Stenico (TN) company among the international leaders in the production of supports for professional displays.
The interactive table capable of reproducing the image of the Shroud at a 1:1 scale was created using seven 55” monitors placed side by side, covered with shatterproof glass, and made interactive with touch technology. The project’s complexity mainly related to the large dimensions of the table itself: 5.02 x 1.42 meters. During development, all construction aspects were considered to ensure public safety (shatterproof glass) and accessibility to the table (appropriate heights and spaces for people with disabilities).
